The Assumption Board of Education met August 12, 2008.  Chairman Mike Mahoney called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  Members Present:   Fr. Baltes, Mike Mahoney, Bob Schneider, Deb Solvie, Jennifer Grammond, Brian Giese, Mary Zosel

Members Excused:  Josh Fischer

Members Absent:  Tom Noel

Others Present:  Darla Loher, recording secretary

B.        Recommended Action

a.              Motion by Brian, seconded by Mary to approve the agenda, motion passed.

b.              Motion by Brian, seconded by Deb to approve the May minutes, motion passed.

Motion by Fr. Tim, seconded by Mary to approve the July minutes, motion passed.

C.        Unfinished Business

            1.         2007-08 Year ending budget:  reviewed and discussion was held

 

D.        New Business

1.     New agenda format:  reviewed and discussion was held, all agreed this will work well.

2.     Lunch Budget:  motion by Brian, seconded by Deb to approve the proposed budget with the student lunch increase to $1.65, motion passed.

 

E.         Faith Formation

            1.         Communication and Report:  no report

           

F.         Principal

1.              Communication and Report:  Jennifer reported on the summer maintenance progress, new emergency lighting is in place, gymnasium ceiling has been painted, basketball courts have been stenciled, parking lot has been swept, along with some other minor painting in classrooms.

2.              Curriculum areas:  a new Social Studies series has been selected and ordered.

Mrs. Sleiter attended a workshop about integrating technology and reading, she found this to be very informative and she will share her new insights with the rest of the teachers.

Ms. Grammond attended a two-day workshop on Powerpoint presentations and a three-day workshop on Webease.  Both classes were very informative.  Both workshops were funded through Title money.

3.              Enrollment:  as of August 1 student enrollment is 91

4.              Calendars:       Fall workshops: August 26-28, 2008

Family Potluck:  August 27, 2008

First day of school:  September 2, 2008

Septemberfest:  Sunday, September 7, 2008

G.        Pastor

1.              Communication and Report:  Fr. Tim reported still looking for someone to work with the Faith Formation students grade 1-6.  there will be a parent meeting September 10th for grades 1-12.  Classes will begin the first Wednesday in October.

H.        Committee Reports:  Deb distributed a report for review, fundraising committee would like families to sign up for at least 3 working events.
